Erasing WeChat accounts, which are part of daily life in China and include many citizenship services, used to be the result of a bureaucratic chain. To delete your WeChat account, you had to delete all your chat history, cancel all third-party services, and then write an email to WeChat’s customer service stating why you want to close your WeChat account. At the end of all these stages, if the reason for your request to close was accepted, your account would be closed. WeChat changed its account deletion procedures in 2020, as this makes it difficult for the app to reach user profiles at a global level. Here are the new and quite easy account deletion steps.
Deleting a WeChat account is pretty easy compared to before, but before you delete your account, you need to pay attention to some things:

What is WeChat
WeChat is one of the most used messaging apps in the world. The China-based communication app is widely used because popular apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp are banned in the country. Just like WhatsApp, WeChat, a messaging app based on it, hosts a list of conversations you’re involved in. What sets WeChat apart from other social media apps is its versatility. WeChat, which has become part of the daily lives of Chinese citizens, can be used in many areas from communication to payments to identity transactions.
You can add people you want to communicate with through the app to your contacts in a variety of ways. When people change their contact information in China, you usually see one person scanning the code on the other’s phone. Each WeChat user has its own QR code. You can scan the user’s custom QR code to add a contact to WeChat and communicate from there. You can also use a phone number or ID to add a contact to your contacts and call people nearby. Thanks to the social feature “Moments”, users can share a large number of pictures or videos and comment or like their friends’ posts. With all these features, WeChat is a competitor to social networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and even payment platforms such as PayPal.
